The mountain doesn’t grade on a curve
Most apps rate a killer peak “moderate.” Class IV gives every peak a safety brief scaled to its real risk — the serious objectives you can’t miss, the easy ones that stay quiet. It sits above the logbook, so preparation comes before the climb, not after.

The Knife Edge is exposed on both sides with a fatal fall line. Loose rock and rockfall have killed climbers here. Plan a 12+ hour day and be off the ridge before afternoon storms.

A straightforward hike on a maintained trail. Carry layers and water, and check the forecast for wind on the summit.
Every brief defers to the current forecast and the land managers. We orient you — we don’t pretend to be the mountain. Turning around counts too: the Good Judgment badge is earned for the smart call, not just the summit.
